What we do
with your details.

The short version: this website collects nothing about you unless you book through it, and then only what the booking needs. The companies that take payments for us collect what they need to do that, and we see only what it takes to do the work.

Who we are

Stratosphere Records is a recording, mixing and mastering studio in Knightdale, North Carolina. Stratosphere DSP is the name we put on the software we make. Both are the same small business, owned and run by Eric Trexler, and this policy covers both.

This website

  • No accounts, no analytics, no ads. We do not track who visits or what they look at.
  • Booking from this site. When you book here, what you pick (the engineer and the time, or the service and songs) and the artist name you type go to our booking service, which sets the booking up on EngineEars. We keep a record of each booking so we can see it. To limit how many bookings one place can make, it also keeps a scrambled form of your IP address for that day.
  • No tracking cookies. The only things this site saves are on your own device: whether you closed the offer bar at the top of the page, and the artist name you last booked under, so you don’t have to type it again. Neither is sent to us except the name, when you book.
  • Hosting. The site is hosted by Netlify. Like any web host, it keeps ordinary server logs, such as your IP address and the pages requested. See Netlify’s privacy policy.
  • Fonts. The typefaces load from Google Fonts, so your browser contacts Google, which sees your IP address. See Google’s privacy policy.

Booking a session, a mix or a master

You can pick your booking on this site; payment and file delivery happen on EngineEars. EngineEars holds your account and takes your payment under its own privacy policy.

From a booking we see your name, how to reach you, what you booked, and the files and notes you send. We use them to do the work and to talk to you about it. We never see your card number.

Merch

Merch is sold through our store on Spring, which takes the order, the payment and the shipping under its own privacy policy, linked from the store. We never see your card number.

Our software

Plugins from Stratosphere DSP are sold through our store on Moonbase. Moonbase runs the checkout: it takes the payment, handles sales tax and issues your license, under its own privacy policy.

From a purchase we see your name, your email address and what you bought, so we can support you and send updates to what you own. We never see your card number.

What a plugin sends. When you start a trial or activate a license, and when the plugin later re-checks that license, it contacts our Moonbase store. That sends:

  • your license, if you have one
  • an ID for your computer, so a license can be tied to the machines it is used on
  • your computer’s name, so you can tell your machines apart

That is all. Our plugins send no audio, no session or project information, and no usage tracking. If you would rather not connect at all, a license can also be activated offline with a file.

The rules for using Featherweight are in its license agreement.

Stratosphere Club

If you join the Club, we keep your email, your profile, and what you post and send there. Private messages are seen only by the people in that chat. We never sell any of it. The Club terms explain the rest.

Alerts. If you turn on alerts in the Club app, your phone gives us an address for sending them, and each alert goes through the company that makes your phone or browser, such as Apple or Google. Each alert is locked so only your phone can read it. Alerts can show the sender’s name and a bit of what they wrote on your lock screen. Turn alerts off on the Me page, or log out, and we delete that address.

Asking for your Stratosphere Club code

If you ask for your Club sign-up code on this website, we use the email or phone number you type only to check it against our client records and send you the code. It goes to the email and phone number we already have for you. We do not add what you typed to any mailing list. We delete the request once it is handled, and keep only a dated note of the request.

Code texts come from the studio’s phone. Reply STOP and we will take your number off our texting list.

What we do with it

  • We use your details to do the work you paid for, deliver it, and support it.
  • Now and then we email past clients with studio news. Tell us to stop and we stop.
  • We do not sell, rent or trade anyone’s details.

Your choices

Ask us what we hold about you, ask us to fix it, or ask us to delete it, and we will. Email us at von8794@gmail.com, or message us through our EngineEars profile. For details held by EngineEars, Spring or Moonbase themselves, their policies above explain how to reach them.

Changes

If this policy changes, the new version goes on this page with a new date at the top.
